You’ve spent months preparing for your race, so the last thing you need is to have your mind elsewhere hoping you didn’t forget something. You have to have your mind on the race, so we’ve prepared a checklist of things to bring for your triathlon so you can prepare your gear and be ready for the big day.
You probably won’t need or use everything on the list, but it never hurts to be over prepared. We’ve listed the items individually, but depending on the race distance, you might need more than one of an item, such as Gu Energy Gel, Electrolyte Drinks, or Water Bottles.
We’ll break them down according to Personal, Swim, Bike, and Run:
Personal
- ID (Including USAT Card)
- Clothing (jersey, tri-shorts, socks, etc)
- Towels for the staging area
- BodyGlide
(to prevent chafing)
- Post-Race clothing
- Sunglasses
- Race Registration information
- Energy Gels
- Electrolyte Drinks
- Watch
Swim
- Swim Cap
- Swimming Goggles
- Wetsuit
Bike
- Bike (can’t forget that!)
- Helmet
- Water Bottle
/s
- Water Bottle Cages
- Spare Tire/s
- CO2 Pump
and cartridge
- Hex Tool
- Cycling Gloves
- Cycling Shoe
Run
- Running hat or visor
- Running shoes
- Fuel Belt
Make sure you’ve got a bag big enough to put everything in, and spend time a few days to a week before the race getting your things ready. It will reduce your stress level knowing you are prepared and ready to go on race day.
